This 1867 with silver-plated mechanism was made by Alfred Bull in November/December 1923. It is a lovely piece of work and plays nicely. We overhauled and repadded the flute in 2018, since when it has had only light use. The pads are in excellent condition and the flute plays easily. The mechanism has no play or wear and feels precise under the fingers. There are no cracks in the body, and just a repaired hairline in the lined headjoint, away from the embouchure hole.
Alfred Bull was 37 years old when he made this flute, and at the height of his powers. Born in Fulham, he made his first flute for Rudall Carte when he was only 20, and went on to become one of the most reliable of craftsmen during the inter-war years.
The flute comes in a non-original case that is a good fit. This is a chance to own an excellent 1867 that plays at modern pitch and is ready to go at a good price.
