This is easily the best Gebruder Monnig flute we have seen. It has been treated with love and care, was overhauled and repadded around eight years ago, and has since seen only very light use. It plays beautifully at modern pitch with a warm yet powerful sound.

Gbr Monnig is one of the famous old family companies that have operated around Markneukirchen for more than a century. Made in 1959, this flute really shows how good these particular flutemakers were, since it is in remarkably fine condition. The wood is excellent, as is the keywork, which looks wonderful and has no excess play, so it feels precise under the fingers and works with the lightest of touches.

This vintage German flute, with a sounding length of only 59.3cm, plays easily at modern pitch. The flute is no heavier than a Rudall Carte and feels well balanced. Around eight years ago it made the journey back to Markneukirchen  for a complete overhaul by Hammig, including a repad. We believe the mechanism was also replated. Since then it has had only light use. It comes in its original case with both tenon caps.
